Reine is a true impressionist of Provencal cuisine. Her style reflects the vast, rich landscapes of her native France as well as showcase the finest ingredients from Provence. Reine cooks in broad strokes, letting the dishes stand as testimonials of the flavour of the countryside. Her pieces highlight the best of the lovely Lubéron, the bounty of Provençe, with a nod and a wink to Sicily, Malta and Tunis. Reine Sammut, née La Fernière, studied medicine in the early seventies. She left her studies soon after meeting and subsequently marrying Guy Sammut, a bourgeoning restaurateur. Guy opened a restaurant with his mother and Reine's fate as one of France's most innovative chefs was sealed. She and Guy established Auberge La Fenière, situated in the lovely village of Lourmarin. Auberge La Fenière has 1 Michelin star, 17 in Gault-Millau, and Reine has twice been voted 'Best Woman Chef in France'. Today Reine has a team of 12 in the kitchen of her gastronomic restaurant which also houses guest rooms, a shop and a cooking school. Her signature is a sparkling white baker-boy hat that makes her the stand-out feature in any kitchen. Cuisine NOW proudly welcomes Reine Sammut to a stellar line up of world-leading artists.
